communities, fuels conflicts, or threatens wildlife and natural areas. These issues are important - no one wants to be a part of any of those negative aspects and that is why Niccolo Bella has worked extremely hard to provide a good alternative - green gold. We do not bury the facts or look the other way - we openly look for solutions and implement them for the better of everyone and everything involved so that you can purchase a ring with complete confidence.
We support the Oro Verde Project in Colombia and Eco Andina in
Argentina by using their gold. Both guarantee ecologically mined precious metals and fair prices with premiums for the miners. In the
mining process there is no mercury or cyanide used, there is no use of
heavy machinery and there is no ecological disruption. Oro Verde as a
non profit organization invests in the bio diversity of Chocó region and
takes care of education and infrastructure.
Niccolo Bella only trades in diamonds, gems and precious metals that
come from legitimate sources that can disclose origin and cutting center practices. Our partners pay visits to the manufacturers and polishers and are in contact with organizations that conduct independent 3rd party verification of the mining practices. There is no ecological disruption in the mining process and the people who mine the precious metals get fair wages.
Our license with the Jeweltree Foundation provides a track and trace platform where you can view the complete history of your jewelery piece, from mine to finger… We must provide proof about country and mine of origin and disclose where further enhancements (such as polishing or refining) have taken place. The Jeweltree will decide whether or not this is done according to their desired environmental and social standards and their Certificate guarantees that the small scale mining and community projects involved gain direct benefit.
Niccolo Bella also uses 100% Recycled and beautiful precious metals in some of our OMG Rings. All precious metals we offer are recycled from the Earth’s existing metal supply and facilities are operated at the highest standards in the industry. We want to continually respect basic human rights around the world and to conserve energy and recycle to protect and preserve our planet’s future!
Miners that sell to Oro Verde have to comply to these standards:
1) No ecological disruption
2) No use of toxic chemicals like mercury and cyanide
3) Mined areas gain ecological stability within three years
4) Topsoil removed from the site is replaced after the exploitation process
5) Tailings and poolings do not exceed the local ecosystem capacity for rehabilitation
6) The silt load into stream, river or lake systems is controlled
7) Mining is conducted with the agreement of the local Community Councils
8) The origin of the gold and platinum is declared in flavor of the corresponding municipality
9) In forested areas mining activities do not exceed 10% of a hectare in rotation periods of two years
10) Local, regional and national regulations are followed.
