We must provide proof about country and mine of origin and disclose
where further enhancements (such as polishing or refining) have taken
place. The Jeweltree will decide whether or not this is done according
to their desired environmental and social standards. An important
criteria is that the projects involved have independent third party
verification. The Jeweltree Foundation is proud to be the first to even guarantee origin and cutting center practices for very small diamonds.
The cutting centers we work with are regularly audited and work under
the highest social and environmental standards. We promote diamond
mining and polishing from community cooperatives or small scale
artisanal mining that give direct benefit to the communities involved.
Alternatively we also guarantee supply chain transparency and best practice standards for diamonds that originate from large scale mining and polishing, even for very small diamonds.
We currently work with small community mining projects in Madagascar, Tanzania and Brazil and larger mines in Canada and Australia.
